2024 is finally here, and that means the industry is once again about to be exploding with new technologies, tools, trends, and more. As an independent musician, that means you have more to learn and even more to grow. To help you ride the wave of what’s to come, here are some of the top music streaming trends we think artists should keep an eye on in 2024…

Using new and improved AI and machine learning to improve their suggestions, streaming platforms will most likely follow initiatives like Spotify’s AI DJ, evaluating listeners’ music preferences but also factors like geographic location, time of day, current weather conditions at that location, etc. All to offer users the most accurate and personalized music recommendations ever.

DIY Distribution
As the streaming market evolves, more DIY distribution companies will continue to evolve as well. This means that rules and policies may change, but this year there will also be more focus on KYC (Know Your Customer) rules – rules that help companies better understand who and where their customers are, and protect them against fraud and corruption.

The industry as a whole has taken more action than ever before against fraud, and will continue to do so in 2024. This partnership, created specifically to eradicate streaming fraud across the industry, is just one of the solutions that have been put in place this year (and we expect many more in the future).
