Hello everyone! I'm Gianfranco Ferronato, Founder of GX Live Marketing, Creative Experiential Marketing Agency. Today I want to talk to you about an idea that came to my mind, and I wanted to share it to open the conversation, The 7 hats of the president, yes, you read correctly, 7.
Based on Edward de Bono's Six Thinking Hats theory, this methodology proposes an innovative and creative vision to address leadership and decision-making in an organization's presidency or senior management.
In the original theory of the Six Thinking Hats, the following hats are included: blue, white, red, green, yellow, and black. In this article, I have added 1, the orange hat, to adapt the theory to the context of presidential leadership and highlight the importance of effective communication in leadership today.
Before we dive into the 7 hats, let me briefly explain Edward de Bono's original theory. The idea is that to make effective and creative decisions; we must be able to think from different perspectives, represented by six hats of different colors.
Each hat symbolizes a different way of thinking, and by "putting on" each of them, we take a specific approach to analyzing a situation or problem.
Now, to adapt this theory to the realm of presidential leadership, I propose the following 7 hats:
Blue Hat: The Strategist
White Hat: The Analyst
Red Hat: The Emotional Leader
Green Hat: The Innovator
Yellow Hat: The Optimist
Black Hat: The Skeptic
Orange Hat: The Communicator
Let's explore each of these hats and how they can help a president lead successfully.
1. Blue Hat: The Strategist

With the white hat, the president becomes an analyst who relies on data, facts, and evidence to make decisions. This approach makes it possible to objectively evaluate situations and find solutions based on reality rather than being carried away by assumptions or prejudices.
3. Red Hat: The Emotional Leader

Emotional intelligence is fundamental for any leader, and the red hat represents the ability to understand and manage one's and other's emotions. A president who uses this approach can connect with his team, motivate his employees, and build a positive organizational culture.

A president who takes this approach is willing to explore new ideas, take calculated risks, and foster an environment where innovation is valued and promoted. This mindset is crucial to maintaining the organization's competitiveness and growth in an ever-evolving market.

The yellow hat represents positive thinking and optimistic vision. A president who uses this approach focuses on opportunities, benefits, and the potential for success rather than just obstacles and difficulties. This attitude can inspire confidence in the team and generate an atmosphere of enthusiasm and motivation.
6. Black Hat: The Skeptic

The black hat symbolizes critical thinking and the ability to identify potential problems and challenges. A president who takes this approach is aware of the risks and knows how to anticipate and prepare for difficulties. Although it may seem pessimistic, this approach is necessary to ensure that all aspects are considered and informed and balanced decisions are made.
